Attached below are excel spreadsheets that teachers can use to enter Theme and Weekly Skills Test data. The spreadsheets have the formulas formatted to automatically calculate percentages to determine proficiency levels of individual students in each sub test. These spreadsheets have been corrected of the following:
Students who score 80% or higher on the Theme Skills Pre-Test DO NOT need to take the Weekly Skills Test, as they are considered proficient. For these students, teachers have the option of selecting materials outside of Houghton Mifflin, such as novels or other complex texts that meets their needs. Students who score less than 80% will take the Weekly Skills Test as a post-test to see if they have learned what has been taught. This data can be used to determine proficiency on the Standards-Based Report Cards. We will be working throughout this school year to directly align the skills and strategies in Houghton Mifflin to the standards on the report card. This will be an on-going work in progress. K-1st Teachers: Theme Skills Tests do not need to be administered as a pre-test. The Weekly Skills Tests can be used at the end of each story OR you may use the Theme Skills Test at the end of the Theme to assess what has been taught. |
